MAD incorporates seven martians in various whimsical positions; from manning the laser cannons to being held by a mechanical arm and swinging out with a telescope for a better view.  Its sensor array includes a special oscillating eye in the sky and a rotating radar dish.

   It is made of gas-welded sheet steel and soft copper-coated steel welding rod and is finished in flame oxidized steel and copper with copper highlights.  The sculpture is then mounted on a soapstone base and sprayed with a clear acrylic coating which protects the sculpture from rusting and gives it a shiny appearance.

   MAD is an accurate working clock that is powered by a small 120VAC, 60 Hz clock motor.
